What is the event?: A charity cycle ride

When and where?: September 5, Valencia, Spain.

What the event entails: Setting off from Valencia Airport on a very rural route and cycling roughly 700 miles to Seville. We cycle until we get roughly where we think we should be that day and then try to find a room for the evening.

Who is taking part?: I will be travelling with my old friend and cycling partner Steve Theaker. Once we leave the Airport we are on our own without any support vehicles or hotels booked in advance.

Why have you chosen this charity? My Dad, Johnny Rowe died a number of years ago after a long battle with cancer. He passed away in the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth. Throughout his illness he was looked after with great love and care by everyone at Garden House. The support of the hospice was amazing and I can’t imagine how my family and I would have got through such a difficult time without that support.

Financial target: £1,000

How can people support you? To make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/martinrowe278 and keep up to dater with the ride on our blog at www.around

Any other interesting information: Only once have we had to sleep under the stars after not finding a room to stay in and that was in a vineyard in Bordeaux so it wasn’t all bad.
