The publication of the statutory proposal follows a consultation, last year which received good support. The proposals are in response to the increasing need for school places in Biggleswade, as a result of additional homes planned for and built in the area.

CBC Executive Member for Families, Education and Children, Cllr Steve Dixon, said: “There is a real need for new school places in Biggleswade to meet the demand that comes with significant housing growth in the area, so following on from a good level of support received for the proposal during our preliminary consultation, we are now progressing to the next stage.”

Information regarding the proposal and how to have your say is available at: http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/council/public-statutory/notices.aspx. All responses must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 1 February. At their meeting on 6 April the council’s Executive will consider the results of both consultations and determine the proposed expansion. If approved, the new places are expected to be ready for 2020/21.
