Council fights sites

A town council is fighting the possible Gypsy and Traveller sites in its area.

Potton Town Council cited serious concerns about the potential sites in and around the town.

In a statement this week the council said: “The town council believes that a new site or sites here would be unsustainable in terms of service and also unsettle the current residents at the Common Road Traveller site who have become settled in our community.”

The council has resolved to appoint legal representation to help oppose the proposals.

Councillors’ actions have included writing to MP Alistair Burt and making contact with surrounding parish councils. Additionally, they have compiled a list of objections to each site to present to Central Beds Council later this month.
