Couple celebrate after an inn-credible two decades

Proud publicans invited customers and staff alike to celebrate a pub’s 20th birthday.

Hughie and Colleen Hone held a party at the Whistle and Flute in Biggleswade after marking two decades behind the beer pumps.

The couple are experienced publicans, and were also running other premises in the Milton Keynes area when they first took over the Mill Lane venue.

They were delighted to welcome back customers and staff, past and present for the party.

But what is the secret behind a long-running boozer?

Colleen, 55, said: “To be honest I think you find out quite quickly that you either love it or you hate it!

“We have always loved the job. I think getting on with people is important, and we are a free house which makes it easier for us as well.”
