Creating rubbish evacuation toys

Children at Stondon Lower School took part in a project run by Central Bedfordshire Council on Friday, June 7, which encouraged them to recycle.

Each class took part in a workshop run by a member of the council that showed the positives of recycling their rubbish.

The theme of the day was “make do and mend” to fit in with what the children are currently learning about the Second World War.

Each child used rubbish they had been collecting for six weeks to make a toy that they would want to have with them if they were evacuated from their home.

Teacher Jane Anderson said that the day was fantastic, the children had a whale of a time and that the school would definitely want to take part in a similar project in the future.
