Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities services at Central Beds, said: “The role of the library has always been an important one to communities and we want to carry on providing this valuable service. We want to know what people think about libraries and whether their full potential is being harnessed by those people using them.

“I would like to stress that although we will be looking for ideas on how to save money, we are also looking for creative ideas to make sure that libraries in Central Bedfordshire are being used in the best possible ways.”

Your opinions will help inform options for the future model of the service. The council will then formally seek feedback from the public, stakeholders and partners on these options starting in August. You can take part in the Big Library Debate at www.letstalkcentral.com or www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/consultations or by talking to your local library staff.
