Distraction burglary leaves woman shaken up and fearful

Police are appealing for information after a distraction burglary in Sandy.

At around 9.30pm on Monday, March 9, a man knocked on the door of a house in Westfield Gardens claiming to be from the police and displayed a fake identification card.

The woman who lived at the address opened the door and the man pushed her into a chair and demanded money. After searching the woman’s home the man fled empty-handed.

Detective Constable Jason Wheeler said: “I urge anybody with information about this offence, which has left the victim injured, extremely shaken and fearful to be in her own home, to come forward. We are keen to speak to anyone who has seen a discarded fake police identification card.
