Dragons’ Den star set to attend Craft Fair

Max McMurdo will be appearing at the ‘Gifts For All Occasions Craft Fair’ at the Weatherley Centre on Sunday, February 8.

Max secured investment from Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis in his business ‘reestore’.

He takes everyday waste objects and playfully upcycles them into beautiful accessories and functional pieces of furniture.

Since then, Max has appeared in George Clarke’s ‘Amazing Spaces’, Kirstie Allsopp’s ‘Fill Your House For Free’ as well as ‘Shed of the Year’.

One of the organisers of the event Luke Newman said: “Max is a personal friend of mine and is genuinely one of the nicest men you will ever meet.

“He deserves all the accolades he is getting due to the hard work and dedication that he has put in over the years.

“I am extremely excited to see him but also for the stall-holders because I know from his love of home built items, that he loves craft fairs and seeing what people have imagined and made.”

With the announcement of Max’s guest appearance the number of stalls at the craft fair has been extended from 40 to 60.

All profits made by the organisers shall be in aid of St. Trizah School in Nakuru, Kenya.

The money will go towards helping those with HIV and AIDS and to improve the teaching quality at the school.

Luke is passionate about helping those in need and said: “In May my brother and father and 46 other volunteers will be returning for the fourth time in as many years to help relocate and build the new St. Trizah School.

“I can tell you that both of them are key members of the team and due to their background, knowledge and experience take a pivotel role in the trip. However each volunteer needs to raise £2350.”

The children that they are supporting have to deal with living in the poorest suburbs, suffering from bad nutrition, health and development.

Max McMurdo launched reestore in 2003 before securing the investment of two Dragons in 2007.

With their investment and input reestore has grown from a hobby fuelled by passion to one of the UK’s most respected and renowned designers and manufacturers of upcycled products.
