The woman in her twenties was driving southbound just south of the Sainsbury’s roundabout at Biggleswade between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 17 when she was forced to stop.

A yellow x-reg Peugeot 106 car being driven by a man in his twenties overtook the woman’s black Vauxhall Corsa and braked right in front of her, forcing her to stop.

The man then left his car and threatened the woman with what looked like a jack handle, while he and a male passenger also shouted at the women in the vehicle and banged on the windows.

Eventually the men got back in their car and drove off.

Other vehicles travelling behind the cars were also forced to stop and police are appealing for witnesses.

They would particularly like to speak to an elderly woman who pulled up next to the victim’s car and would have seen the men standing in the carriageway.

A man has been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Meehan at Bedfordshire Police is keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident.
