Alzheimer’s Society is on the lookout for people in Bedfordshire who would like to help them make a difference to the lives of people with dementia and carers in the county.

The charity is currently recruiting volunteers to help run a number of its groups in Bedfordshire and Luton. This includes Singing for the Brain sessions in Central Bedfordshire and Luton, a dementia café, carer’s peer support groups, cognitive stimulation sessions and activity groups. People can either volunteer to help at one or a number of services depending on how much time they wish to donate.

Ayla Patton, Alzheimer’s Society Services Manager for Bedfordshire and Luton, said:

‘The number of people living with dementia in Bedfordshire is rising every day, making the support of volunteers more vital for Alzheimer’s Society than ever before. Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to provide the life changing services we do for both people with dementia and carers and that is why we are looking for more people to join us today. Whether it’s a couple of hours every other week or considerably more, it all counts.

‘You don’t have to have volunteered before and you don’t need to have any personal experience of dementia. If you want to make a difference, simply give us a call to find out more.’
