Nick Lipp, operations director at Fairytale Marquees, started the company which hires a wide range of marquees and furniture, with just one little van.

This year the business continues to flourish and expansion has meant the move to larger premises and more jobs created.

Nick was studying for an engineering degree in 2004 when he and friends worked in their spare time on growing the marquee business. After a couple of years the business was doing well enough for Nick to take the leap and work for himself.

Nick said: “The business grew steadily as our reputation started to filter through to our business network and local community. Our ethos was, and still is, to become ‘the people to go to’ if you need great quality event infrastructure related equipment. And whatever it took, we would deliver on time, on budget and in a professional manner.

“We are fortunate enough to see some amazing homes and venues and meet some very interesting people, which is why I love this industry.

“The business has grown exponentially and we have moved to Gamlingay into a 20Mx30M industrial unit and yard with lorries, vans and forklifts to meet the demands of our clients. We have an awesome crew of guys who have a great rapport with our clients and take great pride in their work.”

Nick’s wife Kate is also involved in running the business. The company helps within the community too, donating structures for use at St John’s Hospice and providing lorries and drivers for floats in the Sandy Carnival.

Nick added: “This year our order books are almost full for the peak season, so its looking to be another fantastic year and we are all thoroughly looking forward to the challenges of 2016.”
