Fake gardeners make off with woman’s cash

Distraction burglars made off with cash from an elderly woman’s home after offering to do gardening work for her.

The 86-year-old answered her door in Glebe Road, Sandy to a man between 9am and 9.30am on Tuesday, August 6.

He offered to trim a bush in her garden and she said she did not need any gardening work doing.

But another man then started to trim the shrub without her consent, before stating that he was going around the back of the property to get a drink.

The woman went into the kitchen to pour some water and the men disappeared.

When she returned to the front door she heard a vehicle driving away and cash was missing from her front room.

One of the men is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall with a slim build and a thin face.

He had a ruddy complexion with his hair parted on the left and wore a blue knitted jumper with an orange or yellow pattern on it and faded blue jeans.

There is no description available of the second man.
