Feathered friends feature in floral designs at the church

FLOWER arrangers were flying high with another successful festival.

St Swithun’s Church in Sandy held its annual flower festival over the weekend and this year’s theme was Birds of a Feather.

It was chosen to complement the RSPB’s celebrations to mark 50 years at its headquarters at The Lodge this year.

Flower group organiser, Trixie Cooper, said: “Everyone seemed pleased and we got some nice compliments.

“There were about 20 arrangements; one of the seashore and a marsh, which portrayed the habitats. There were also garden birds and birds of prey including golden eagles and owls.”

The church holds a flower festival every year with a different theme and there is always a fete on the same weekend.
