Festive party for all ages at upper school

IT has become a tradition for pupils at an upper school to share a Christmas celebration with the older generation.

Each year the Sixth Form students at Sandy Upper School host an OAPs’ Christmas party which any older people living in Sandy are invited to attend.

This year’s event was successful once again.

Ben Matthews, director of learning for Sixth Form, said: “We didn’t get as many OAPs as in previous years but we had the best part of 80.

“We’ve had some really nice feedback from those people who came.

“The students who did the catering are catering students and they put on a fantastic spread including Christmas cakes.”

The rest of the school also helped out by collecting items to put in the mini hampers which everybody who attended was given to take home.

The visitors were able to enjoy games of bingo and listen to student Sam Neighbour who played the guitar and sang to them.

Everyone also joined in with a sing-along session of carols and Christmas songs.

The students dressed up on the day and they also collected money for the party in the town centre.
