It will then be pulled all the way down London Road, onto the High Street and finish at the Market Square at around 2pm.

Bibby Distribution have promised to double all the money raised up to £1000.

The five charities who the money is being raised for are The Firefighters Charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, ActionAid, Autism Bedfordshire and St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger.

Fire fighter Ryan Phillips, who will take part in the fire engine pull, said: “The five charities were chosen as they reflected the interests and passions of the crews taking part.

“For me ActionAid, is an important charity that deals with international issues such as poverty and inequality, whereas we have closer to home issues that Bedfordshire Autism, MacMillan, and St Johns Hospice all combat.

“The Fire Fighters charity was an obvious choice and does a fantastic job at supporting retired and injured fire fighters. We felt that people sponsoring and supporting us would all get behind these great causes too.”

In order to prepare for the fire engine pull, Ryan and his colleagues have been training hard to be in the best shape possible.

Ryan said: “I have been eating spinach, avocados, broccoli and lots of other greens to power me up in order to perform well on the day.

“Quite a few of the guys down at the station enjoy lifting weights and flipping big tractor tyres around the yard to keep their core strength up to scratch as well.”
