Fun for all as the summer break starts

WITH schools breaking up for the holidays today (Friday) parents and pupils alike can rest assured that there will be plenty of fun activities in the area this summer.

Let your children run wild this Sunday.

A Running Wild play session will take place in Baulk Wood off Langford Road, Henlow.

Families can go along any time between 2pm and 4pm for den building, creative arts, duck racing and more.

The RSPB is also holding several events to keep your children busy this summer.

Visit The Lodge to take part in a minibeast safari and your youngsters will love delving into the undergrowth to find the fascinating creepy crawlies that live on the reserve.

Safaris will take place from 2pm to 4pm on July 25 and 27 and August 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 31.

Booking is essential so call the reserve on 01767 680541. There will also be children’s nature discovery sessions at the RSPB reserve.

These will include a walk spotting birds, butterflies and dragonflies and bark rubbing. They will take place from 2pm to 4pm on July 29 and August 3, 10, 17 and 24. These RSPB events cost £4 for children, £3 for Wildlife Explorers and are free for adults. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Youngsters can also enjoy sporting activities at Sandy Sports Centre over the holidays.

A range of sports including football, tennis and badminton will be on offer at the centre for cheaper rates than those charged during term time.

For swim and gym fun the Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre in Biggleswade will be the place to go.

The Junior Lifestyles Club will run every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from July 28, while there will be Aqua Fun at the weekends.
