Fundraisers hit the ground running in Virgin London Marathon

Chronicle Country marathon runners have hit the ground running, raising thousands of pounds for different causes.

Runners from around the area excelled in the Virgin London Marathon, supporting a variety of different charities.

Luke Newman of Biggleswade raised £5,600 for Ovacome, a support network designed for women with ovarian cancer, their families, friends and healthcare professionals.

The 32-year-old was running in memory of his late mother Jen, who lost her battle against ovarian cancer eight years ago.

Rebecca George, known as Becky also ran, and raised more than £2,200 for Sands, a charity that supports bereaved parents and their families.

Becky is lettings manager at Satchells estate agents in Biggleswade.

Harriet Shannon raised more than £500 after running in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The Biggleswade resident ran less than a year after giving birth to her son Isaac.
