Further delay in King’s Reach broadband saga

There is likely to be a further delay to the promised broadband improvements in King’s Reach according to a Biggleswade town councillor.

The news comes just a week after the Biggleswade Chronicle was told residents could expect the superfast broadband service to be available from mid-December.

However, Councillor Bernard Rix received news earlier this week from the developers, Openreach, and Central Beds Council suggesting there were problems with the proposed plans and that there would be a further delay.

In the wake of this, Biggleswade Town Council has announced a public meeting.

Councillor Rix said: “We wish to invite all King’s Reach residents to a public meeting on Tuesday, December 9, at the Biggleswade Town Council chambers on Saffron Road, to discuss these ongoing problems with broadband in Kings Reach.

“I have also invited relevant representatives from the developers, from Openreach, and from Central Beds Council as well as our local MP, Alistair Burt.

“A number of my town councillor colleagues have told me that they also plan to attend. I plan also to invite representatives of the local
media.”

The meeting will provide an opportunity for King’s Reach residents to receive an update on progress as well as giving them an opportunity to express their own views regarding the issue.
