Gala still a success

The rain may have poured but the fun and festivities were not spoilt at this year’s Shefford Gala on Sunday (September 23).

This year’s event was held in Shefford High Street so was based mainly outdoors, but thankfully the bad weather did not affect the programme of entertainment and activities.

Before the main part of the day began a procession of walkers made its way from Samuel Whitbread Academy in Clifton to the High Street.

Matt Hollingsworth, chairman of the Shefford Gala committee said: “We were a bit worried about the weather but we still managed to carry on with almost everything that we had planned.

“We had Winston Churchill to open the event and a variety of historical reenactments, including Georgian soldiers with muskets in the High Street!

“All in all it was still a great day.”
