Garden clear-up planned at Gamlingay school

STAFF, parents and pupils at Gamlingay First School will be clearing up the wildlife garden at the site on Tuesday (September 20).

The pond in the garden was completed last summer and volunteers will be getting together for a comprehensive tidy-up.

Headteacher Jonathan Newman said: “As well as cleaning up the pond we will also be doing some weeding around the garden, working on the trees and even assembling some piles of logs that will hopefully attract mini beasts.

Parents have been keen to help out so far so hopefully we will have a good turnout.”

The installation of a new flow and return water system over the summer also means that all of the classrooms in the older part of the school now have hot water.

Pupils will also be going on a residential trip to Grafham Water Centre on Friday, September 23.

Staff and youngsters will be spending two days at the recreational centre.
