The service, which will be open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27, is an alternative facility to take garden waste whilst the Ampthill Household Waste Recycling Centre is temporarily closed for refurbishment.

You can also have your garden waste collected via the fortnightly kerbside collection scheme and it can also be taken to the newly developed Recycling Centre at Bells Brook, Biggleswade, or home composted using a discounted home compost bin available from the council.

The manned site at Priory House will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm from Saturday, March 26, until further notice. This temporary site is for green waste only.

Permit systems relating to vehicles and trailers at the other sites will still be in operation.

Councillor Budge Wells, deputy executive member for community services, said: “Similar to when the Biggleswade site closed, we are pleased to again be able to offer this temporary facility for residents to compost their green waste.

“With gardens starting to need more attention, coupled with the regular fortnightly kerbside collections, this should meet residents’ needs while the Ampthill site is closed. The newly re-opened Biggleswade site has been a huge hit with residents and Ampthill will also provide the same state-of-the-art facility when it reopens.”
