Help save the water voles from the brook

YOUR time and energy can help to preserve a vital water vole habitat.

In summer last year The Wildlife Trusts found evidence of the small mammals in Potton Brook while completing a survey.

The brook runs through the Henry Smith Playing Field.

Volunteers are required to clear the bank in this field as it is currently overgrown with brambles, nettles and saplings.

Once these are cleared more grass will be able to grow and this will provide a better habitat for the endangered species.

Volunteers will spend a couple of hours clearing the brook on Sunday (November 27) from 10am.

Equipment will be provided but volunteers are asked to bring along their own gloves and secateurs, hand pruners or garden saws if they have them.

Outdoor clothes and sturdy shoes are advisable.
