Colin Osborne visited Stratton Upper School last week, where he took particular delight in showing his wife “room 15” – a maths classroom that was also his form-room when he was a pupil in the 1960s.

Head students Andrew Catherall and Lara McCormack, who showed Mr and Mrs Osborne around, were impressed by how much the High Sheriff remembered of Stratton life 50 years ago.

Andrew said: “It was fascinating talking with Mr Osborne.

“He was really interested to know hat life is like at Stratton now but equally we wanted to know what Stratton was like when he was here”.

After the tour Mr and Mrs Osborne spoke to members of Stratton’s elite debating team. He was able to explain the civil office of High Sheriff but also discussed his career after he left Stratton.
