Instruments returned but truck damaged

MUSICIANS are celebrating after their stolen instruments were discovered.

An instrument-filled truck belonging to Nexus Drum and Bugle Corps of Sandy was reported stolen from Bedford on Friday, October 28 and discovered in Cambridgeshire on Monday, October 31.

The group’s members were delighted to be reunited with their front line instruments but the truck received a substantial amount of damage.

Andy Rees, joint corps director, said: “The truck is in the hands of our insurers.

“The insurance assessor will inspect the damage and make a decision of repair or write off.

“This will be down to him and his estimate of repair costs against the current book value of the truck.

“In the meantime we have to prepare for the worst and raise funds to buy another truck. If it’s a write off the insurance money will be nowhere near what it costs for a replacement truck.”

The group hopes to raise £5,000 in order to replace the truck if necessary so that members can continue to compete around the UK.
