It's pedal power for Alzheimer's, MIND

Aaron Ball, 27, of King’s Reach, will use pedal power for the 1,000 mile journey next month, setting off at 6am on Saturday, April 23.

He said: “I’m hoping to raise awareness of two charities very close to my heart - Mind and the Alzheimer’s Society.

“My target is £2,000 which will be split between them.”

The former Stratton Upper student added: “This will be my hardest challenge to date, both physically and mentally. I’ll be responsible for ongoing bike maintenance and will be carrying all my equipment myself.”
Aaron started getting involved with charities five years ago, after his grandafather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

He said: “My Grandad passed away recently and mental issues have played a big part in my life. I’ve had firsthand experience of how they can impact on family and friends.”

“Mind is a fantastic charity that supports those affected.”

The senior project manager raised £4,000 with his Kilimanjaro climb and has also taken part in various runs, bike rides and a duathlon.

He’s looking forward to the fantastic views he’ll see on his route from Lands End to John O’Groats and has been cycling prior to work to get his legs acclimatised. He said: “The hardest part of training is finding the time to do it.”
