Keech Hospice Care is missing sponsorship money

A charity is missing £20,000 of sponsorship money.

Keech Hospice Care is still waiting for the money after a series of running events.

The Midnight Walk for women was held in September and there were also Santa Runs in Bedford, Stevenage and Luton.

If each race hits its fundraising target it will mean more than £95,000 will have been raised for patients and families at Keech Hospice Care, providing vital support for local people that are in need of it.

So far around £75,000 has been raised.

Clare Bestall-Philips, who organised the Midnight Walk said that although there has already been a fantastic response there is still a long way to go.

She said: “We’d like to stress that every penny sent in will go to the patients and their families who are supported by our doctors, nurses and care teams who work closely with them everyday of the year.

“Our administration costs are covered by the entry fee paid by each person taking part, which means everything else that is sent in to us goes where it should.

“Someone may think they’ve only raised £10 and that will be swallowed up by costs so it is not worth sending it in but that is certainly not the case.

“Every pound raised matters and that is why we are asking people to send in what they can.”

A gift of £21 will pay for the support services needed by the family of a sick child, such as social work, bereavement support and complementary therapy.

£50 will help pay for a doctor to support someone in the adult in-patient unit for 24 hours.

And £122 will provide a place at the hospice and access to specialist support for a child and their family for one day.

Keech Hospice Care supports children with life-limiting conditions across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynse and adults from Luton and South Bedfordshire.
