Knife-wielding robber raids chip shop

An armed robber made off with cash from a chip shop after threatening the owner with a knife.

The money was taken from the premises in Stotfold on Thursday, January 10.

A man entered the Charles and Co chip shop in Regent Street at around 8.55pm and waved the knife at the owner, demanding money.

He then went behind the counter and took bank notes from the till before running off.

The man is described as white, in his late teens, around six-foot tall, of slim build and wearing a dark blue or black anorak with navy trousers.

He also wore a black balaclava across his face.

Detectives believe the robbery could be linked to another incident just a few minutes earlier when a man tried to enter the Ladbrokes bookmakers in Stotfold High Street.

Police were called by staff at the shop who reported a man approaching the locked door of the premises and trying to enter.

He was dressed in a black jumper but with a hood or similar pulled round his face so that only his eyes were showing.
