Landmark show has fun for whole family

There will be a fairground atmosphere as Sandy Show celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The show, held on Saturday, August 20, will be a special event with entertainment for all ages, animal displays, apart from the fabulous exhibits in the horticultural, home and produce classes.

The show, which marks 50 years in its present form, is being held at Sandye Place Academy from noon until 5pm.

There will be free Punch and Judy shows, Michael Smith showing all types of owls, and Chris’s Animal Encounters will feature tarantulas, snakes, giant centipedes and other creatures.

Young visitors can enjoy fairground rides for young visitors, along with a bouncy castle and face painting.

Live music will be provided by local musician Stewart Clements.

In the main hall will be prizewinning horticultural exhibits of vegetables, blooms, plants, fruit, floral art, along with scarecrows, home brewing, cakes, breads, preserves, artwork, handicrafts and photography.

There are more than 170 classes to enter including 25 classes for young people. Local trade and charity stalls will be inside the hall as well as outside. Presentations of trophies will be at 4.30pm and are being made by Ruth Bell, Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire.

Admission to the show is £1 with accompanied children admitted free. The committee would like to thank the sponsors of the show for their continuing
