Library closes for a revamp

Another library is about to be upgraded.

Sandy Library will be closed for refurbishments between Monday (October 15) and Sunday, October 21.

During this time self service technology will be install so that readers can borrow, return and renew books and other items without taking up staff time. Librarians will be able to spend more time helping customers.

Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member sustainable communities, services at Central Beds Council, said: “Sandy library is a real community hub so the improvements there will help make the service more efficient.

“Library staff will be freed up to spend more time helping customers and it demonstrates our commitment to investing in our libraries for the future.”

The changes follow the council’s library consultations.

Books will not be due back whilst the library is closed, although members can still renew books and make requests online at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/librariesforthefuture

Readers can also visit any other library in the county, except Luton.
