Life saving equipment donated to a school

A couple have donated another defibrillator in Chronicle Country.

Barrie and Brenda Irons of Stotfold have given the life saving equipment to Roecroft Lower School, also in Stotfold.

Since their 13-year-old son died as a result of a heart condition they have been working alongside cardiac charity, SADS UK, to make defibrillators readily available in the area.

Barrie said: “Traditionally few schools and sports clubs had defibrillators or access to them and with our work through SADS UK we are going some way to addressing this situation.

“We believe this lifesaving equipment should be readily available in the community.”

They are supporting the charity’s Big Shock campaign.

A defibrillator is the only piece of equipment that will restore heart rhythm if a person goes into cardiac arrest.

In total the Irons have donated 21 defibrillators.
