The project must be carried out over a full weekend or for an equivalent or greater period of time.

It can be part on an ongoing scheme or just a one-off.

Roger Wolburn from the Lions group said: “It is so easy to apply for this award.

“The organiser simply contacts the Lions and tells them about the project – what will be done, when and where.

“Members of the Lions group will then go to see the work and the end result.”

Groups who win Community Awards will receive a certificate and £100 for the members to spend.

Mr Wolburn added: “This is an ongoing project from the Lions group who are aiming to encourage young people to become involved in their local communities.

“The Lions feel that once young people do get involved this will stick with them for the rest of their lives and communities will benefit from this as a result.”
