Major tournament for junior Clifton golfer

A YOUNG golfer is preparing to take on some of the world’s best junior players at a tournament this summer.

Joshua Taylor, 12, has already made a name for himself in the golfing world having competed at tournaments in Europe and the US, including California, North Carolina and Chicago.

At the end of May Joshua, of Bath Place, Clifton, will travel to Scotland to take part in the US Kids Golf European Championship, and will compete against 500 competitors from 30 different countries.

The tournament, which will run from May 31 to June 2, will take place on five historic courses – Gullane No. 2, Gullane No. 3, Craigielaw Golf Club, Luffness New Golf Club and Longniddry Golf Club.

Bedford School for boys student Joshua, who lives with his father Malcolm, mother Lindsay and five-year-old sister Lottie is well-practised in the tournament process.

Malcolm said: “Golf is a major part of our lives and we are looking forward to travelling to Scotland as a family to support Joshua at the tournament.

“We have travelled to Spain and different parts of the US before, and we generally have a family holiday at the same time where possible!”

Joshua is also set to combine his love of golf with his education, when he starts a golf and academic scholarship at the Bedford School for boys upper school in September.
