Man assaulted in Biggleswade pub

A MAN was left with a broken jaw when a drinker at a pub punched him for criticising a song that was playing.

The victim was struck twice in the face during the attack at the New Inn in Biggleswade, which occurred at around 8.30pm on Sunday (October 2).

He was sitting with a friend in the Market Square pub and said that he did not like the song from the juke box when the attacker said that it was played at his mother’s funeral. A few minutes later when the victim stood up from where he had been sitting he was attacked.

The other man left the pub immediately, apologising to the landlord on the way out.

He is described as being white, stocky, around 30-years-old and was wearing a light-coloured t-shirt.

Detective Constable Claire Case, who is investigating the incident, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw the attacker leaving the New Inn and heading into the market square.”
