Man charged over Jesse’s murder

A man was yesterday (Sunday, January 11) charged with shooting dead a dad near a travellers’ site just two hours into the New Year.

Mark Mosley, 42, has been charged with the murder of Jesse Smith, 36, who was gunned down in Burwell, Cambs, at 2am on New Year’s Day.

A post mortem revealed Mr Smith, from Potton, was killed after being shot in the back.

Mosely has also been charged with the attempted murder of a second man who was involved in the incident near a travellers’ site.

He was remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates in Cambridge today (Mon).

Four men and one woman have also been arrested in connection with the murder have been released on police bail.
