Sandye Place Academy in Sandy has been graded as ‘good’ by Ofsted.

The report says: “Pupils make good progress across year groups in most subjects because they benefit from good and sometimes outstanding teaching.

“By the time pupils reach Year Eight they are well prepared for upper school because the vast majority of pupils achieve above average levels of attainment in English, mathematics and science.

“Most teachers plan work which is interesting and challenging and which captures pupils’ interests and enthusiasm very well.”

Teachers use their knowledge of pupils’ abilities well so that they give them challenging work without making it too difficult.

The leaders, managers and governors are working well to support and continually improve the school.

The children behave well and feel safe.

Although good, when the school was last inspected it was judged to be ‘outstanding.’

To reach this standard again required improvements include raising the quality of mathematics teaching in Years Five and Six.
