Mobile police station unveiled in Sandy

RESIDENTS can speak to police officers and PCSOs at a new mobile station.

The Sandy Police Pod was unveiled in the town centre car park on Monday (August 22), and the mobile station will be open every weekday and also from 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays.

Members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) will be available to speak to and residents can ask for advice on home security and personal safety.

Sergeant Jon Woodruff from the Safer Neighbourhood Team for Biggleswade and Sandy said: “It is very important that residents know that they can approach the SNT to receive any help and support that they may require no matter how trivial the issue.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to open up this brand new facility in the heart of Sandy which offers residents the opportunity to approach the local policing team and receive any help or support that may be required.

“This new police station will be a useful tool to help us tackle crime as we work even closer with the residents of Sandy, nearby villages and partnership agencies.”

Sandy mayor Councillor Susan Sutton welcomed the new station and says it will be a vital facility for residents and an important facility that improves communication between the public and the police.

She said: “We thoroughly welcome this new police pod and it is something that the council has been requesting for quite some time.

“Residents used to be able to come and speak with the local policing team in the council offices, but to have this facility is a great leap forward for the town.”
