Motor mania in Haynes

A POPULAR vehicle show had its most successful year ever at the weekend.

The Haynes 100 has now been running for six years and its fame is clearly spreading as 194 vehicles drove from miles around to attend the motoring extravaganza.

Crowds of locals also attended the event on Sunday (June 26) and combined with the drivers and passengers it is estimated that between 1,500 and 2,000 people turned up to enjoy the day.

One of the organisers, Trevor Tumber, said: “We had the largest number of vehicles ever but I think the crowd numbers weren’t as high as last year because of the heat.

“The public are mainly from the village but the cars and other vehicles come from 50 to 60 miles away. It’s getting quite well known.”
