MP Burt is special guest at launch of new community centre

North-East Beds MP Alistair Burt was the special guest at the opening of a new community centre.

More than 300 guests attended the official opening of the Fairfield Community Centre in Stotfold earlier this month.

The Kipling Crescent venue has been available for use since earlier this year but Mr Burt was invited to launch the centre as part of an official ceremony.

He was presented with a plaque which will be mounted on one of the walls.

Two of the groups that regularly hire the centre, Box of Frogs and Fusion Dance Academy, provided entertainment for guests and there were activities and competitions for children.

Stotfold Town Councillor and chairman of the Fairfield Community Action Group (FCAG) Barrie Dack said: “The launch was a great success and we were delighted to see so many people attending.

“There were plenty of attractions for all the family including a visit from Father Christmas and a colouring competition for youngsters to enjoy.”

Mr Burt also took part in an impromptu table tennis tournament.

The centre is available for community groups and organisations to hire, and current classes include pilates, yoga, ballet, fusion dance and fitness sessions.

There is still capacity for more groups to use the centre and a timetable of events and further details are available at www.fairfield-park.com

The centre will also house the council chamber for the new Fairfield Parish Council when it starts up in May next year.
