Ninety-nine per of students can attend their first choice school

Ninety-nine per cent of children in Central Beds will be going to their chosen upper school when the new academic years starts in September.

The admissions team at Central Beds Council allocated a total of 2,237 places at schools across the area with almost every single student gaining a place at their first choice school or academy.

Some 89 per cent of parents and carers applied through the council’s website – up from 83 per cent last year.

Councillor Mark Versallion, executive member for children’s services at Central Beds Council said: “Starting upper school is an important step on the educational journey for all our young people, so it’s fantastic that 99 per cent of them have got places at the schools they wanted to go to.

“I am confident that with our support, and that of their families and schools, they will be able to achieve their 
academic potential and obtain great results.”
