Nuns go penniless in aid of a dream holiday

FOUR religious figures had to use the gift of the gab to find their way home from a mystery location.

Abandoned without money or phones, the RSPB staff were raising money for children’s charity, Dreamflight.

Gabrielle Layzell, Kat Balaam and Olivia Betts, who all work at The Lodge in Sandy, were joined by Martin Abrams, who works for the bird society in London, on Saturday (August 6).

Dressed as nuns, they travelled by coach to the start point alongside other fundraisers, which turned out to be Bournemouth.

Gabrielle, 29, said: “Dreamflight raise money for sick and disabled children to take them to Orlando for a dream holiday. It costs a lot of money to take carers and a medical team.”

Once deposited by the coach the nuns were given a list of tasks to be completed in different locations as they blagged and hitched their way back to Wootton.

These included having their picture taken with a Bournemouth lion sculpture, collecting seashells and having their photo taken by the London Eye.

They managed to return by 7pm, having raised £628.50. Their target was £500.
