Olympic dreams come true for trio
Len McMain, who works for Arlesey Town Football Club, will be part of the medical team that will look after cyclists at the Velodrome.
The 51-year-old – who also works for the Great Britain Community Lions and England Lionhearts rugby league sides – will additionally be on duty for the wheelchair basketball and rugby tournaments at the Paralympics.

Hide AdFormer paramedic Len – who worked for the former Beds and Herts Ambulance Service before he became a full-time physiotherapist – is relishing the challenge ahead.
He said: “I saw an advert for volunteers and thought I would apply – I knew there would be a lot of other people doing the same thing but I had nothing to lose.
“I sent off my application and didn’t hear anything for months, then out of the blue I had this email asking me to attend an interview.
“It didn’t actually say what the interview was for so I had to ring them to check!”

Hide AdLen, who attended an introductory day for volunteers at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (February 4), is particularly looking forward to treating the Olympic cyclists.
He said: “Cycling is traditionally a strong area for Great Britain in the Olympics, especially with people like Sir Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins winning medals in the past.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it is one I really want to make the most of while I can.”
Len, who lives in Luton, will not be the only representative from Arlesey Town FC to help out at the games.

Hide AdDave Braybrook will be based at the Olympic Village and he will be working as a chauffeur.
His role will be to make sure that athletes and special guests are taken to and from track events and fixtures on time.
Ken Gear will be in the administrative section for the Olympics and also the Paralympics.
Ken will be heavily involved with the registration of athletes at the Olympic Village and he will also be helping with uniform administration.
