The year 7 group visited the Eiffel Tower, took a boat tour down the Seine, went up the Tour Montparnasse, saw the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles and the Arc de Triomphe.

They also took in the Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame cathedrals and explored the Cite de Sciences interactive museum, while also having a chance to speak French and immerse themselves in the vibrant life of the city.

One pupil, Monica, said she had “an amazing time” and thanked staff who had organised the trip.

She said: “It was fantastic. I don’t know how we managed to cram so much into one long weekend! Mr Bellamy had everything organised to the minute, but it never felt rushed. The best part was going to the top of the Tour Montparnasse at sunset. It was beautiful, but so so high.”

Pupils learn French from Year 5 at Henlow and go on to achieve excellent GCSE results at upper school.

Mr Bellamy, head of French, was proud of how the pupils adapted to busy city life. He said: “There is always a worry that pupils will not cope in a huge city such as Paris. However our group of pupils were alert, aware and very interested in all of the history and culture around them. They loved the pace of the trip and the fact that we were able to take in so many important buildings.”
