Other authors aren’t a patch on Angela!

A POPULAR children’s author read to youngsters at a library as part of a book fair at the weekend.

Angela Patchett, writer of Angela Angel and the Magic Chair, Angel and Misty Bear entertained youngsters at Shefford Library as part of the Shefford Book Fair 2011 on Saturday (September 10).

Angela, who is a friend of fair organiser Ken Pollard brought her famous magic chair along to the session at the High Street venue, and chatted to youngsters and parents.

The fair returned for the second consecutive year and ran on the Friday (September 9) alongside the regular monthly Shefford Farmer’s Market on Saturday.

Ken said the reading created an animated atmosphere in the library.

He said: “Angela is a good friend of mine and she lives nearby so I was delighted that she agreed to come over and read to the children.

“The library was packed and the youngsters followed her every word!”

The reading session was just one feature of the fair, which also included a variety of book stalls and a display put on by Churches Together in Shefford in the library and also in St Michael and All Angels Church nearby.

Foodies could also attend the launch of the Tastes of Bedfordshire directory.

Tracy Buggins, executive chef at the Black Horse in Ireland attended to launch the latest directory, which includes a guide to food and drink producers in the county.
