Payback through gardening

OFFENDERS have become gardeners for a housing association in new community sentences.

Overgrown gardens in Lindsell Crescent in Biggleswade were tidied and weeded as part of the Payback Scheme.

The new project has been launched by Aragon Housing Association in partnership with Bromford Support and the Probation Trust.

Aragon Housing manager, Jane Wallwin, said: “Our tenants were struggling to keep their gardens in order so together we worked out a way in which they could be helped through the Payback Scheme.

“We are delighted to see the launch of the project and hope this will be the first of many in the future.”

The offenders were fully supervised while they gardened on Thursday, June 30.
