Bedfordshire fire service staff celebrated for going ‘above and beyond’ at awards ceremony
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) celebrated the achievements of staff at a star-studded awards ceremony.
The Values awards ceremony recognised the outstanding contributions and achievements of BFRS staff, highlighting their dedication to the Service’s Values and commitment to the communities they serve.
The awards are an internal recognition opportunity that showcases a variety of different achievements, with winners nominated by colleagues and shortlisted by a judging panel. Around 90 people attended the event at Cranfield University, to celebrate those shortlisted for their outstanding work and announce the winners of each award.
Special guests included the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Camilla King, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Christopher Sharwood-Smith, fire authority chair, Councillor Jacqui Burnett, Bedfordshire’s Assistant Chief Constable, Karena Thomas, and Jagtar Singh.

Chief Fire Officer, Andy Hopkinson, said: “It was a tremendous honour to listen to all of the fantastic work that colleagues across the Service are doing to truly live our Values, go above and beyond, and really stand out in delivering work that emphasises who we are at Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
“I was bowled over when I heard just how many nominations we had received for this year’s awards, and the range and scope was huge; individuals who had gone above and beyond outside of work, teams who delivered cracking innovation and introduced new processes, people who showed great care and humanity in times of crisis, and crews who delivered outstanding results at incidents.
“Congratulations for all colleagues who received a nomination, were shortlisted and invited to yesterday’s event and to those who were announced as winners.”
The Service extended thanks to gold sponsors Motorola Solutions and MSA and silver sponsors Emergency One and Firehawk for making the evening possible.
