Biggleswade business that has served town since 1938 celebrates success at awards
A Biggleswade business that has served the town since 1938 is celebrating after winning at this year’s UK Small Business Awards.
Biggleswade Dental Centre, based on Saffron Road, won the title of Best Dental Practice at the ceremony.
The title comes a year after the centre won gold for Best Enterprising Business and was named an overall winner at the SME Bedfordshire Business Awards.
Biggleswade Dental Centre, which offers general and specialist dentistry under one roof, opened in 1938 and is currently under the ownership of Dr Hema Dhingra.

Dr Dhingra has been at the centre for more than 20 years and became its sole owner in 2021 when Bob Ballard retired.
The practice was praised by judges for its “strong patient feedback, multidisciplinary team and commitment to community initiatives”, which included the establishment of a dental safe space for women in crisis.
Following its latest award Dr Dhingra told the Chronicle: “We were delighted to be recognised for our commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centre dental care and for the continued development of the practice.
“We are proud to have a highly skilled and caring team and offer a broad range of general and advanced dental treatments under one roof.
“Being recognised in two consecutive years has been a wonderful achievement of the hard work and dedication of the whole team.
“Our focus is to continue providing excellent care for the people of Biggleswade and Bedfordshire, while investing in our team, facilities and the range of treatments available locally.
“We are looking forward to celebrating our 90th anniversary in 2028 and marking the practice’s long relationship with the town.
“Generations of local families have trusted the practice with their dental care, and we are extremely proud of those longstanding relationships.”
