Husband and wife team Bobbi and Parv Gill will be marking the special occasion on Sunday, when the Shortmead Street shop will be decorated with balloons, and goody bags will be on offer for their regulars.
The couple would like to say a huge thank you to the community for the “warm welcome” they gave, and look forward to serving the town for many years to come.

Hide AdBobbi said: “When we moved here from London it was completely different. Biggleswade is a lovely market town and people actually stop and talk to you. You are part of the community.
“I’ve been able to build a rapport with customers and we’ve made some great friends.”
Bobbi and Parv say that their biggest achievement has been starting a business from scratch and building a future for their family.
They moved into the empty premises in 2010 to help out Parv’s mother, who owned the vacant premises, with neither having any previous shop-keeping experience.

Hide AdA more frightening memory, however, was when Bobbi was threatened by a man with a gun around five years ago, but the brave shopkeeper stood his ground and the man scarpered. “Stay calm and don’t risk your life or your staff’s,” advises Bobbi.
Luckily, the rest of their 10-year experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
Parv said: “Bobbi’s biggest strength is that he’s very customer orientated. I’m more cash and carry and behind the scenes, making sure we are different from other shops.
“I’d like to say thank you to people for all their support. We went the extra mile during lockdown to give something back.”

Hide AdBobbi and Parv were kept very busy when food shortages struck earlier this year, as they made sure they supplied essential items such as baking goods, pasta and toilet rolls to customers, whilst they also offered deliveries to elderly residents who were isolating.
The couple are still offering to help people now.
