Proud mum, Emma Davies, 42, contacted the Chronicle because she wished to spread the word about her daughter Imogen’s new song ‘Isolation Situation’, which has already reached 1,397 views on YouTube and raised a fantastic £500 for the NHS.

The song describes the 12-year-old’s experience of lockdown, with Imogen wishing to reach out to other youngsters who are feeling lost and confused. She has also been inspired by her parents, who are both key workers, to raise money for a good cause.

Emma said: “Imogen is a very physical child and rugby is her passion, so not being able to be physically active was a struggle.

“But her school, Biggleswade Academy, set her homework to write a song about her feelings.

“Her auntie is a music teacher, so she helped Imogen with the music video.

“We’re quite emotional about it and really, really proud of her.”

Imogen said: “I wrote this song because during tough times many people listen to music and if I could write a song I would be able to write about what other people are feeling inside and help with all those locked up emotions.

“I had to turn my emotions into song lines using some rhyming words, making it into what now is Isolation Situation.”

With the help of Will Looms, Nora Geidmane and her auntie, Hayley Steere, Imogen was able to turn her lyrics into a music video.

Imogen’s Auntie Hayley, who lives in Guildford, teaches at AllStar Choir and amassed a group of volunteers to record their vocals at home.

Meanwhile, Hayley held regular online calls with Imogen to encourage her during the songwriting process, and musicians Will and Nora created a backing track.

Hayley said: “Imogen is a cracking kid. One of the most amazing, inspirational, motivated and motivating people that I’ve ever met.

“The writing process was natural and organic, a lovely process. I hope the song goes as far as it can.”
