Lydia Endersby, 40, who works at Principles Hair Design, in Flitwick, has re-written the lyrics to Idina Menzel’s hit ‘Let It Go’ to help people see the fun side of letting their barnet become long.

Lydia sang the lyrics and created the video along with footage from her salon colleagues, Emily Storey-Smith, Victoria Hinchcliffe, and Sofia Hernanz, with whom Lydia is joint manager.

Lydia said: “I’d listened to Frozen when the kids were little, and I was lying in bed one night when the lyrics came to me, ‘Let It Grow!’

“I’d seen some hairdressers doing tutorials online, but I thought when we eventually get back to work we’re not going to have a lot of time to repair people’s mistakes.

“We don’t know what the restrictions will be. If there are some in place, people may have to be spaced out, so the salon won’t be full. To repair mistakes and colours will be costly and take up our time.”

Lydia’s ‘Let It Grow’ was posted on Facebook and has been shared in countries across the world, including Australia, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil, Bermuda, and 35 US states.

Listeners will also be impressed with Lydia’s singing voice, with the hairdresser having had lessons when she was little and sung for the Salvation Army’s Ilford Songsters. She was also an assistant conductor for the Young People’s Singing Company, and a teacher at Vocal Tutor, in Manchester.

Lydia added: “I’m equally stressing about my own hair but I’m going to practice what I preach and wait until I go back to the salon. People have got worse things to worry about.

“I miss talking to customers; if some have had a bad day it’s like therapy. Talk to each other rather than taking the scissors to your hair.”

Finally, Lydia would like to say a big thank you to all the key workers who are keeping the country going.

The salon gives a discount to those who work in the emergency services, and Lydia made posters to display behind her in the video.
