Planning for BMXs

YOUTHS could soon be spending their spare time at a BMX track.

The Stondon Recreation Association (SRA) has lodged a planning application to construct the facility on the playing field in Station Road, Lower Stondon.

If accepted by Central Bedfordshire Council the track would be surrounded by a 1.8m high chain link fence with a lockable gate.

The jumps would range from 0.5m to 1.5m in height.

In a letter accompanying the application Peter Andrews from the SRA said: “The SRA canvassed local opinion on ideas for developing our playing field, which has sadly been long neglected, and a BMX track was the most popular option.

“We have asked for people’s comments at various fundraising events and the overwhelming majority think it’s a good idea.

“All the kids in the village are dying to get going and we’d love to be able to provide them with this great facility this year.”

The consultation period ends on Tuesday (July 26).
